Strategy:  Sulfur has become a very expensive commodity in recent years. Sulfur being the raw material for the production of sulfuric acid, sulfuric acid prices have also risen to all time highs. CS2 Inc. has helped clients find outlets for by-product sulfuric acid from their processes and helped them eliminate the need to neutralize the acid and discharge the sulfur salts to waterways.

Application:  Many manufacturing processes that use sulfuric acid do not actually consume the acid, but rather, the acid becomes diluted and contaminated with various process chemicals. Many times this acid can be reused in another process eliminating the need to purchase virgin sulfuric acid, or it can be recycled and used to produce fresh sulfuric acid. CS2 Inc. has helped companies identify opportunities to recycle and/or reuse by-product and waste sulfuric acid. With our extensive process background and experience with sulfuric acid, we can help develop potential recycle/reuse and savings opportunities for your company.

Potential Cost Savings:  In one application a client was generating over 15,000 tons/year as 70% sulfuric acid. This acid was being sent offsite for neutralization and ultimate disposal. CS2 was successful in developing three potential recycle/reuse opportunities for the acid, which would save the client over $2,000,000/year. Sulfuric Acid Recycle/Reuse Strategies also reduce the environmental footprint of the facility.
